The Crystalline Devourer of Ice Thistle Hills ( VO )

The Crystalline Devourer is a malicious crystal worm whose lair is high in the Ice Thistle Hills of Winterspring. It is said that she guards a great hoard of treasure, but beware—many an adventurer has been swallowed whole by this great beast, and those that try to get away are often trapped by her Leech-Brood.

The game is recommended for three players, one running the Crystalline Devourer and two playing as the heroes. However, solo or co-op play is just as challenging. The Core Set, Spoils of War, and all crafting items from those sets are legal for this Raid. Promo figures are not legal.

Fillet paused in the falling sleet. “We’re close. I can smell the beast.” He snapped his faceplate over his face. “Keep your heads down and follow my lead.”

Party Building: In Competitive play, the “Raid Party” selects five characters of the same faction using no more than 34 Honor. In Solo play, the “Raid Party” selects five characters of the same faction using no more than 30 Honor. Upon death, characters do not respawn.

Namrah closed Ruby’s eyes. “Sometimes at the end of light, there is only shadow.”

For this scenario, the “Raid Party” refers to the players playing as the Heroes. The “Raid Boss” refers to the player (only for competitive mode) playing as the Crystalline Devourer.

Map: The Crystalline Devourer of Ice Thistle Hills is played on Winterspring: Ice Thistle Hills.

Starting Locations: The Raid Party spawns from the blue Spawn Point. The Crystalline Devourer begins the game in play on the red Spawn Point. (Use the Water Elemental model to represent the Crystalline Devourer).

Aggro Tokens: Aggro Tokens are used to track which character the Crystalline Devourer will attack each tick. A character gains an Aggro Token for doing each of the following:

When a character damages the Crystalline Devourer.

When a character scores 6 or more hits against the Crystalline Devourer.

When a character heals an ally using a heal ability.

When a character plays an Action Bar card with the tagline “Aggro.” (ex. Heroic Strike)

In addition, Taunt does not work as normal. Instead, Taunt is replaced with Taunt: When this character damages the Crystalline Devourer, this character gains an extra Aggro Token.

Gorebelly stuck his Scarlet Kris in the beast’s icy body and laughed. “That outta get her attention.”

On each of its actions, the Crystalline Devourer normally does not choose who it will attack. Instead it will attack the Hero with the most Aggro Tokens in range. In the case of a tie, in competitive play, the Raid Boss chooses its target between the characters tied for the most Aggro Tokens; in Solo (or Co-op) play, the Raid Party chooses who the Crystalline Devourer attacks between the characters tied for the most Aggro Tokens.

Graccus looked forlorn. “I’ve been here before,” he said. “I know exactly what she’ll do.”

Raid Party Bonuses: One Hero must be designated as the "Party Leader." The Party leader may be given an extra Action Bar card, chosen from the following Treasure Items:

Shroud of Mockery: Trinket: Any Class.

(Instant) Remove this item from the game. Choose one: either add 2 or remove 2 aggro counters.

Ligum Vitae: Trinket: Any Class.

(Instant) Remove this item from the game. This character’s next costs 1 less tick.

Sapphire of Desire: Trinket: Any Class.

(Instant) Remove this item from the game. This character’s next attack gains / +1.

Ji’lan pocketed the fetish doll. “I love me dem trinkets, Mon.”

Crystalline Devourer’s Special Abilities: The Crystalline Devourer always has, and cannot lose, the following special Abilities:

1. Crystalline Devourer cannot be moved or teleported by enemies.

2. Crystalline Devourer may not be ticked up by pets or Action Bar cards, though it may be ticked up by Hero’s built-in on-card tick up abilities. 2a. Each time Crystalline Devourer is ticked up by a Hero’s built-in tick up ability, Crystalline Devourer gains 3 counters: +1 , +1 , and 1+ attack counter.

3. Crystalline Devourer removes all debuffs from herself at the end of ticks 5 and 10.

4. Crystalline Devourer is Gigantic: this character ignores line of sight. Debuffs that affect line of sight can not affect Crystalline Devourer’s line of sight.

5. Crystalline Devourer may target and attack untargetable or un-attackable Heroes but only if that Hero 1) has the highest Aggro or 2) is the only Hero in range.

6. On any given tick, Crystalline Devourer must always acts before any of its Leech-Brood.

7. Crystalline Devourer always takes 1 less damage from frost attacks. If a fire attack would deal damage to Crystalline Devourer, it deals that much damage plus 1.

8. In Solo (or Co-op) play, the Crystalline Devourer can only re-rolls misses. In competitive the play, the Raid Boss may choose any dice to re-roll.

9. At end of ticks 5 & 10, Heroes not within 4 spaces of Crystalline Devourer takes 2 damage.

Movement: The Crystalline Devourer never moves. Instead, at the end of tick 10 it burrows and immediately resurfaces. Roll a die:

1-5 Teleport Crystalline Devourer to the VP hill square.

6-10 Teleport Crystalline Devourer to the opposite Spawn point.

1. When Crystalline Devourer resurfaces, destroy any characters that share a space with Crystalline Devourer.

2. When Crystalline Devourer resurfaces, all characters adjacent to Crystalline Devourer take 2 damage.

3. At the end of tick 20, the Crystalline Devourer teleports again. Randomize by a die roll between the red Spawn point and either the VP hill or the blue Spawn point (wherever the Crystalline Devourer is not currently at). It will never stay in the same place.

Tomb of Ice: At end of tick 7 Crystalline Devourer randomly debuffs a Hero in 4 with Tomb of Ice: Debuffed character cannot move and takes 2 damage. At the end of every tick (including this one), this character takes 1 damage.

Stages: The Crystalline Devourer has 4 distinct stages. For the first three stages, when the Crystalline Devourer takes sufficient damage to be destroyed, it instead changes stages. Excess damage does not carry over to the next stage. When the Crystalline Devourer changes stages, it increases its clock by one and immediately gains its new buffs. Crystalline Devourer does not lose its prior buffs/debuffs when changing stages.
